Introduction
Timberwolves are beginning to build the scouting skills that they will carry with them throughout their lives. The program still has plenty of opportunity for play, but also introduces important concepts like the Patrol Method. Their activities revolve around teaching these skills while still keeping kids engaged. At this age, social dynamics are important and focusing on team building is important. Meetings are generally broken up into two activity sections with time for a game in between, but kids at this age are often ready for longer and more involved activities.
The primary badges for Timberwolves are the Tenderpad (investiture) badge, and the First and Second Star, which go on either side of their Tenderpad to show their achievement. There are also 20 different Special Proficiency badges that the scouts can earn. They have to wait to earn their First Star before they can display up to two Special Proficiency badges. Then they must earn their Second Star before they can display any additional badges (although they are welcome to earn them in the meantime). Scouts who earn both stars and complete a selection of additional requirements may display the Silver Leaping Wolf badge on their uniform, and scouts that earn the Silver Leaping Wolf and complete their Pathfinder Tenderfoot Requirements prior to moving up may display the Gold Leaping Wolf on their Pathfinder uniform once they leap up.
